Ryan Reynolds is the king of advertising and self-promotion. It's no surprise that the master was at it again with a surprise announcement that has taken the Marvel and nerd worlds by storm.
Reynolds, who plays the titular Deadpool, posted a video to social media with an update on Deadpool 3. Not only did they have a release date, September 6, 2024, but also major news about a character joining the film — Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have a long history of razzing each other online. Neither holds back and it's a blast to watch. They first appeared on screen together in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
In that movie, the pair played the same characters they will in Deadpool 3. The main difference is that the 2009 version of Deadpool is a far cry from the red-suited version we know and love today.
Fitting Wolverine Into The MCU
It's unclear how Deadpool and now Wolverine will fit into the MCU. In 2017's Logan the character of Wolverine died. That said, the movie takes place in 2029, so at least a few years before the events of Deadpool 3. Also, Deadpool has Cable's Time Travel Device, so it could be that time doesn't matter so much.
