2021 On Tap Sports Net NFL Mock Draft: Miami Dolphins – Pick #6

The Dolphins find themselves in perfect position to take arguably the best offensive player in the draft, WR Ja'Marr Chase.

The Miami Dolphins have already made a splash in the 2021 NFL Draft and we're still weeks away from draft day. The Dolphins traded down to the 12th spot (49ers) and then back up to the 6th spot (Eagles) while picking up an extra 1st round pick. The Dolphins did a wonderful job manipulating the draft board to get extra capitol and they'll still get the player they wanted all along. Trading out of that 3rd spot indicates that the Dolphins want to move forward with Tua Tagovailoa as their quarterback, and they are going to need to build around him.

Ja'Marr Chase – WR LSU

Ja'Marr Chase opted out of the 2020 season, but it's hard to forget what he did in 2019. Chase was a walking highlight reel for LSU on their journey to win a national title. It's hard to find many things wrong with Ja'Marr Chase as a prospect. He's a 6'0" 207 lbs receiver that runs a 4.38 40-yard dash, and has a 41" vertical. Ja'Marr Chase is a 95th percentile athlete and he's not just impressive in shorts.

Ja'Marr Chase's production in college was off the charts. Chase started seven games for LSU as a true freshman in 2018 and exploded in his sophomore season. Ja'Marr chase caught 84 balls for 1,780 yards (21.2 avg) and had 20 touchdowns in 2019. Some people will say Joe Burrow should take most of the credit for Chase's jump in 2019, but there is a reason Joe Burrow is willing to lose his other ACL to reunite with his college teammate in Cincinnati.

Ja'Marr Chase is a NFL-ready receiver and could quite possibly burst onto the scene like A.J. Green did in 2011 or his former teammate, Justin Jefferson, did last year. It's hard to believe Ja'Marr Chase has any chance of busting considering his best games were against the highest level of competition in the biggest games.

Chase can create separation with his first two steps and house a slant. He's also a 90/10, 50/50 ball player. The dude will go over your head and take your lunch money without any remorse for you, even if any of your family members are watching. Ja'Marr Chase is quite possibly the best WR prospect in the last three years, and that's saying a lot considering what we've seen with the last two draft classes.

The Dolphins have the defense, and they also believe they have their quarterback. Tua is a smart decisive player without the biggest arm. Having a player like Ja'Marr Chase would fit perfectly into what they are doing. He is a yards after the catch machine and someone that can bail a young quarterback out of a tough situation. Having WIll Fuller and DeVonte Parker to stretch the field will give a lot of room underneath for guys like Albert Wilson and Ja'Marr Chase. With those weapons, all Tua needs to do is play point guard. The Dolphins are already heading in the right direction and Ja'Marr Chase would be the cake topper that will take them to the next level.
