We are back! Given that the Holidays take a toll on everyone, I haven’t been able to put more gambling picks into article form lately. However, if you’re following the @OnTapBets Twitter account, you’ve been able to see we haven’t stopped providing content. Nonetheless, the no-article streak ends today! I’ve got a little something on the NFL game between the Steelers and Browns, along with some NBA mini-parlays. Let’s make some money.
Ben Roethlisberger Over 22.5 Completions (+100 on BetRivers)
Shoutout to our boy here at On Tap, Cody Delmendo. He’s given this pick out before and it needs to be mentioned again tonight. From the sounds of it, this will likely be Ben Roethlisberger’s final home game as he’s expected to retire at the end of the year. How could you not have a Big Ben prop tonight?
He’s gone over this number in four of his last six games and fell only one completion short the first time these two teams met in Week 8. At plus-money odds on BetRivers, I have to take a shot. I expect him to leave it all on the table in front of the home faithful one last time.
Same Game Parlay (-116 on FanDuel)
- Zach LaVine Over 2.5 Threes Made
- Chicago Bulls Moneyline
I’m not sure why sportsbooks insist on setting LaVine’s three-pointers made prop so low, but I’ll continue to hammer it while they are. LaVine averages 3.2 threes made per game and 7.5 attempts. He’s gone over this number in 18 of his 32 games, and he’s been piling them up even more recently.
Over his last six games, LaVine averages 4.8 threes made, and he’s hit at least five in five of those games. Aside from a clunker in Indiana where he didn’t make a three, LaVine has been pouring them in. Working in his favor tonight, the Orlando Magic have been horrible at defending threes. They rank third-worst with a 36.7 percent three-point field goal percentage against.
As for the Bulls moneyline, the Magic are 7-30 on the season and have lost five straight games. The Bulls are heavy 14-point favorites and sit atop the Eastern Conference standings. They should win this game easily, especially with Lonzo Ball returning to action.
BONUS SPRINKLE: LaVine 4+ Threes Made/Chicago To Win (+240 on FanDuel)
Same Game Parlay (+110 on DraftKings)
- Atlanta Hawks -5.5
- Norman Powell 1+ Threes Made
Starting in reverse order, Powell is averaging 2.1 three-pointers made per game. Furthermore, he’s coming off a poor shooting performance against the Los Angeles Lakers when he shot 0-for-5 from three-point range. He’s made at least one three-pointer in 27 of his 31 games this season, and he has yet to not make at least one three in back-to-back games.
As for the Hawks spread, they travel to Portland to take on a depleted Trail Blazers team. The Blazers will be without Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. Meanwhile, Jusuf Nurkic and Cody Zeller (health and safety protocols) are both doubtful to play. Also, the Hawks are getting healthier at the right time with Danilo Gallinari, Kevin Huerter, Delon Wright, and Onyeka Okongwu all expected to return from health and safety protocols.
Trae Young has scored at least 25 points in 15 straight games. The Hawks are coming off a big win in Cleveland just before the new year. The Blazers have lost four straight contests and 14 of their last 17. I think the Hawks take care of business tonight against this reeling Blazers squad.
Further enhancing my confidence in the Hawks covering the spread, they are receiving 61 percent of the bets, but 93 percent of the money is on them to cover. Since I believe Powell hitting a three is nearly a lock tonight, why not add it in with the spread and make this a plus-money bet? I would play the Hawks to -6.5. Although, I believe they win this game by double-digits.
