Bob Rohrman, one of the largest auto dealers in the midwest, passed away on Tuesday, September 1st.
If you grew up in the Chicagoland area, you know his commercials. They were cheesy by design, but boy did they leave an impression. You've got to respect someone like Bob, who was willing to lean into the commercials and allow themselves to be the butt of the joke.
Of all of the commercials the group put out over the years, my favorite is probably their blooper commercial circa 2009. I love a good blooper, and these are a solid collection. Nothing wins you a room faster than good ol' fashioned self-deprecation.
I'm not sure exactly why, but there is just something about an aging, mustachioed man wearing glasses that just makes a product pop to Chicagoans.
Also, can someone please wrap Peter Francis Geraci in foam, like Jake Berman in Little Giants, pronto? 2020 has been too vicious to take any more chances.
Rest in peace, Bob. The goofy commercial game lost a real one. Today, the company's slogan rings sadly true, "There's only one Bob ROHRman."
