House of the Dragon is an HBO series set in the Game of Thrones universe. The show will depict events about 200 years before Game of Thrones and covers the beginning of the fall of the Targaryen's and their civil war. On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, HBO released the first teaser trailer for House of the Dragon.

Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen, narrates the teaser. We get some great dragon/Targaryen imagery, a look at some of the cast, and a compelling closing line — "Dreams didn't make us kings. Dragons did."

The Targaryen family is wildly interesting and entertaining so I'm excited to see what this show brings to the table. George R. R. Martin's 2018 book Fire and Blood covered the start of Targaryen history in Westeros/Essos. This TV series will serve as the second volume of that story.
