This news has me all sorts of happy. Since the launch of Disney+, there's been a ton of cool news and rumors about franchises of yesteryear that would have a home for new content. While the rumors of various franchises like The Mighty Ducks and The Sandlot amongst others began to swirl, it was easy to imagine the return of some bangers of the '90s, but this? Rick Moranis is returning to his most iconic franchise, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, and that bad boy is heading to theaters. Rick Moranis.
Not only is he coming back, but I think he pulled a Michael Jordan, take a look:
No blue checkmark, true. I'm choosing to believe it is him. Ben Stiller follows that account, I trust that man.
The movie is titled Shrunk, and it will see Moranis return as inventor Wayne Szalinski, while Josh Gad will play the role of a grown Nick Szalinski, one of the children shrunk in the original.
This news has me fanboying through the ceiling, imaging everything I want to see him in, all the franchises. He and Ed O'Neill co-coaching the peewee football team of Icebox's daughter with Spike in Little Giants 2. Louis Tully Tax Attorney running the numbers for how to get the firehouse operational again in Ghostbusters. Most of all, Spaceballs: The Schwartz Awakens. They teased us with that episode of The Goldbergs, but we need more. Imagine Baby Yogurt. Merchandising!
