USA Networks/Syfy's Chucky has been picked up for season two, confirms creator Don Mancini. The TV series is based on the horror franchise also created by Mancini, Child's Play. The TV show takes place in the present-day, after seven sequels with the most recent being 2017's Cult of Chucky. The 2019 reboot Child's Play does not exist in this world (nor in my memory).
The TV series Chucky premiered on October 12, 2021, and has steadily gained viewers and acclaim. Chucky has spent time near the top of the new series list in 2021 as well.
The show acts as both a sequel to the original canon and as a reintroduction to the character for those new to the series or who left after Bride of Chucky. It follows a teenager named Jake who is going through some personal stuff, and finding the cursed Good Guy Doll at a garage sale serves as a match to the haystack. As with previous movies in the series, things only start to get crazier from there. Almost the entire (living) cast of the film series appears in the show, too. There are some horror icons who joined the series as well, like Devon Sawa of Idle Hands and Lexa Doig from Jason X.
I can't wait to share a full breakdown after the season one finale airs on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Be sure to follow the On Tap Sports Net crew for that and all of your other Pop Culture news and updates.
