Whats On Tap in Chicago This Weekend: February 19-21, 2021

With temperatures creeping back up to a tolerable level, get out and enjoy all Chicago has to offer this weekend.

While most of the events below are roughly the same as last week, the weather will finally be a bit warmer so go check them out. Spring will be here soon enough, so take advantage of the winter fun while you can. Here are some events you can still partake in this weekend or add to your future plans for warmer days ahead.

As restrictions become more relaxed, this article series should get more selective and focused as the variety and volume of events add up.

With that out of the way, let’s dive right into everything that’s going on in the Chicagoland area for the weekend of February 19-21, 2021.


Immesrive Van Gough Chicago


Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit Chicago

A breathtaking perspective of Van Gogh’s works, this digital art exhibition has already captivated cities around the globe. While this experience opened on February 11th, the whole month of February is already sold out. Due to popular demand, the exhibit added additional months to run through September 6th. Get your tickets now because this world-class exhibit is selling quickly!

Ice Skating at Maggie Daley Park

While the ice skating at the “Bean” is closed, the skating ribbon at Maggie Daley Park is open. It does require a non-transferable reservation. Skate rental is $16 and using your own skates costs $5.

Ice Skating at Rosemont

Skating at the Chicago Wolves Ice Rink at Parkway Bank Park is also happening this year. Admission to the rink is FREE, however, a credit card is required to hold a reservation. Guests who fail to appear for their skate time will be charged $8 per person. Skate rental is $8.

Lake Geneva Ice Castles

Lake Geneva Ice Castles


Up in Wisconsin, Lake Geneva hosts one of the best spectacles of the winter. Artists come in and create amazing art and castles out of ice. This includes breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, fountains, and much more.

Wilmot Mountain Snow Tubing and Brewery Trip

While you can go up to Wilmot for skiing, snowboarding, or tubing, there is another way to make it a more convenient weekend trip. There is a package that includes a coach bus that departs downtown Chicago and drives you straight to and from Wilmot, where you enjoy snow tubing for two hours. The trip package costs $149 and includes dinner plus one free beer along with the tubing session and round-trip bus ticket. Tickets are sold out for this weekend, but other weekends in February are available.

Monet Chicago

One of the best things to do in the winter for some warm fun is to hit up the Art Institute. Now through June 14th, 2021, they are hosting an exhibit on Monet.


ChiTown Movies Drive-In

This drive-in screens some classic movies all weekend. Check out the movie listings and full details below.

Dennis Watkins


The Magic Parlour at Home – Illusionist Dennis Watkins

Dennis Watkins typically does a residency at the Palmer House, but it is a virtual event this time around due to COVID-19. His magic and illusions will take place via the internet. Some of his tricks require a deck of cards while you are watching. Watkins’ show is ranked number one on TripAdvisor.

Sporting Events

Here are all the sporting events involving Chicago-affiliated teams taking place this weekend. There will be no fans in attendance at any games in the state, so please enjoy them from your couch. Blackhawks (9-5-4) at Hurricanes (10-3-1)

The Blackhawks will look to extend their winning streak to four games when they visit the Hurricanes on Friday night. The two teams were originally supposed to clash in back-to-back games this weekend, but the NHL postponed Saturday's contest due to scheduling issues with the Tampa Bay Lightning. NCAA Men’s Basketball

Coming off a mid-week win vs. Northwestern, the fifth-ranked Fighting Illini will travel to Minnesota this weekend as they look to maintain their status among the Big Ten's elite with March Madness quickly approaching. Star guard Ayo Dosunmu will also be looking to make his case for a potential player of the year award.
