What's On Tap in Chicago This Weekend: March 5-7, 2021

It's finally starting to feel like spring in Chicago so get out and enjoy all the events, shows, and sporting events the city has to offer.

With all the snow melting and the sight of grass finally returning, we can tell spring is here. The weeks in March are perfect to say good-bye to winter, hit up a museum, and start bringing those outdoor activities back. Here are some events you can still partake in this weekend or add to your future plans for warmer days ahead.

As restrictions become more relaxed, this article series should get more selective and focused as the variety and volume of events add up.

Museum of Illusions

The Museum of Illusions is a rather unique experience in which you can immerse yourself in over 80 exhibits. These exhibits provide visitors a creative experience that shocks their senses and offers great Instagram opportunities.

The museum is finally open after being shut down due to COVID-19 protocols. It features the famous Infinity Mirror Room along with some other exhibits and visual displays.

Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit Chicago

A breathtaking perspective of Van Gogh’s works, this digital art exhibition has already captivated cities around the globe. While this experience opened on February 11th, the whole month of February is already sold out. Due to popular demand, the exhibit added additional months to run through September 6th. Ice Skating at Maggie Daley Park - LAST WEEKEND!

While the ice skating at the “Bean” is closed, the skating ribbon at Maggie Daley Park is open. It does require a non-transferable reservation. Skate rental is $16 and using your own skates costs $5.

Monet Chicago

One of the best things to do in the winter for some warm fun is to hit up the Art Institute. Now through June 14th, 2021, they are hosting an exhibit on Monet.

Nom Nom: 40 Years of Pac-Man Design and History

Chicago Gamespace put on this exhibit that dives into one of the most popular video games ever made. Get a glimpse of how Pac-Man has affected pop-culture with this interactive experience.


ChiTown Movies Drive-In

Sporting Events

Here are all the sporting events involving Chicago-affiliated teams taking place this weekend. There will be no fans in attendance at any games in the state, so please enjoy them from your couch. The Bulls took care of the Pelicans on Wednesday. First-time All-Star Zach LaVine was selected by Team Durant for the NBA All-Star game in Indianapolis this weekend. The Blackhawks are in the midst of what head coach Jeremy Colliton described as a "mini playoff series." They'll look to bounce back on Friday night and Sunday afternoon against Central Division powerhouse Tampa Bay.
