On Monday afternoon, the Chicago Red Stars signed Amanda Kowalski to a three-year contract with a fourth-year option. This signing comes in the wake of the team losing Tierna Davidson to a season-ending knee injury.

Kowalski, a Chicago suburbs native, played college soccer at Butler University. During her time with the Bulldogs, she was earned Big East Defensive Player of the Week and Weekly Honor Roll honors multiple times. Kowalski appeared in 72 matches, starting in 46.

The defender joined the Red Stars this preseason as a non-roster invitee. Amanda Kowalski earned her first start on April 2 against the Houston Dash. She played 90 minutes, making two key stops to help the team achieve a clean sheet. Kowalski also completed 80 percent of her 44 passes.
