The Chicago Red Stars re-acquired Yuki Nagasato in a trade with Racing Louisville on Tuesday.
The Red Stars sent their 2023 natural third-round pick and a 2022 and 2023 international roster slot to Louisville.
“I’m extremely happy to be back playing in the Windy City,” Nagasato said in a release. “I have such an appreciation for the incredible amount of enthusiasm Chicago’s fans bring to the field. It’s a joy to be a part of something that special. I’m looking forward to building a stronger connection with Chicago and can’t wait to be working with old friends again!”
The 34-year-old Japanese striker scored two goals, including one against the Red Stars, in 18 starts (21 appearances) this past season for Louisville. In her first stint with Chicago, Nagasato scored 13 goals with 18 assists in 58 appearances from 2017-20.
“We're thrilled to welcome Yuki back to Chicago,” Red Stars acting head coach Rade Tanaskovic said. “We believe her veteran experience will help our incoming young players and push our team towards our ultimate goal of bringing a championship to the city of Chicago.”
