After securing their first win of the season Wednesday against the New York Liberty, the Chicago Sky head to Minnesota to take on a struggling Lynx team.
The 0-3 Lynx have had a tough first week of the season. They have been outscored by 41 points during that stretch.
On Thursday, Minnesota agreed to a contract buyout with Angel McCoughtry. The Lynx also waived Odyssey Sims. However, they have signed Moriah Jefferson and Evina Westbrook.
Now, a majority of the workload will fall upon the reigning defensive player of the year, 36-year-old Sylvia Fowles.
As for the Sky, three-time All-Star Allie Quigley will make her season debut Saturday after dealing with some knee issues. Head coach James Wade has not yet specified if Quigley will start or come off the bench.
It seems Chicago is starting to gel on the court after a 33-point victory over the Liberty. That effort was led by 31-year-old rookie Rebekah Gardner, who had an impressive rookie debut. She posted 14 points, four rebounds, and two steals against New York.
Considering Minnesota’s early struggles, the Sky should roll through the Lynx with ease to begin a three-game road trip.
