Former Iowa standout and 2020 second-round draft pick Kathleen Doyle is getting the opportunity to play for her hometown team. The Chicago Sky have signed Doyle to a training camp contract, according to Rachel Galligan of Winsidr.
The Benet Academy alum played 18 games for the Indiana Fever in 2020, averaging 1.5 PPG and 1.1 APG in 8.6 minutes per game.
Do not let the small sample size deceive you, however. Doyle averaged a career-high 18.1 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 6.3 APG in 33.8 minutes per game while starting all 30 contests at Iowa in 2019-20.
The Sky are now loaded with talent at the guard position. Courtney Vandersloot, Dana Evans, Allie Quigley, Dana Evans, Julie Allemand, Kysre Gondrezick, and Rebekah Gardner make up Chicago's backcourt options. With Kathleen Doyle also in the mix, it will be an extremely competitive training camp for these players vying for a roster spot in 2022.
