Per reports, Li Yueru is expected to arrive in Chicago at the end of the week. The Chicago Sky acquired the standout Chinese center in a trade that sent Lexie Brown to the Los Angeles Sparks on March 30. Yueru had originally signed a rookie scale contract with the Sparks.

The 6-foot-7 center has not played a single minute in the WNBA since being a third-round draft pick of the Atlanta Dream in 2019.

Yueru’s arrival has been delayed due to visa approval. Initially, the Chinese Basketball Association denied her bid to play in the WNBA. But after a week's delay, those work visa issues are now resolved.

Chicago Sky general manager and head coach James Wade has high expectations for Yueru. “Li is an established player in China and on an international level, who adds much value,” said Wade. “We think she is going to be a good player in the WNBA for a long time.”

The 23-year-old averaged 14.8 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting nearly 80% from the field in the Tokyo Olympics.

With the anticipation of Li Yueru’s debut continuing to grow, the Sky look to build on their two-game winning streak alive as they visit the Seattle Storm Wednesday night. Tip-off is at 9:00 PM CT and the game will air on Marquee Sports Network, Facebook, and Amazon Prime - Seattle.
