The Chicago White Sox are holding AJ Pollock out of the lineup for a second straight day. According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, Pollock is dealing with a nasty foot bruise.
In the third inning of Tuesday's doubleheader opener, the 34-year-old outfielder fouled a ball square off his foot and was visibly in pain. However, he remained in the game and even played the nightcap of the twin bill.
But when the AL Central foes met again on Wednesday, the right-handed Pollock was not in the lineup despite lefty Kris Bubic starting for the Royals.
Pollock is once again absent from the White Sox lineup for Thursday's series finale. The South Siders' outfield will consist of Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, and Andrew Vaughn from left to right.
AJ Pollock's ailment comes at an unfortunate time for the Chicago White Sox. With Tim Anderson sidelined for approximately six weeks, the Sox had turned to Pollock in the leadoff role on Sunday and in both games of Tuesday's doubleheader. Josh Harrison hit in the 1-spot Wednesday and Robert will assume those duties Thursday.
