On April 14th, 2021, Chicago history was once again altered. Carlos Rodon has thrown the 20th no-hitter in White Sox history and the first since Giolito’s in 2020.
Rodon was pitching in place of LHP Dallas Keuchel, who pitched for Rodon when he was experiencing stomach issues on Monday.
A hit-by-pitch with one away in the ninth ultimately ruined the perfect mood for Sox fans everywhere, but two outs later their spirits were lifted back up. Moncada fielded the 27th out to clinch the post game celebration.
Rodon has gone from a third overall pick, to an injury ridden hopeful, to a struggling pitcher, and now making history. No career is easy, but this is a milestone few get to say they’ve passed. Seven strikeouts and an overall team effort lead to this amazing feat.
