The Crosstown Classic between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox on August 8 at Wrigley Field will be on "Sunday Night Baseball," ESPN announced Wednesday.

But the game won't air on ESPN.

For the first time, the network said, "Sunday Night Baseball" will air exclusively on ABC when the teams meet at 6:08 PM. The game was originally slated for 1:10 PM.

The program's broadcast team of play-by-play broadcaster Matt Vasgersian, analyst Alex Rodríguez, and reporter Buster Olney will call the game. The broadcast will also stream live on the ESPN app.

The Cubs-White Sox game will compete for viewers with NBC’s primetime broadcast of the 2020 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in Tokyo.

The White Sox (51-35, first in AL Central) are expected to be one of the top teams in the MLB when the series starts. They already have an eight-game lead on the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central Division. The White Sox could look to add at the MLB trade deadline to help their push toward the postseason. The Cubs (42-44, fourth in NL Central), meanwhile, are on a season-long 11-game losing streak. They will likely look to be sellers at the trade deadline as they try to build their prospect system back up.

The Cubs and White Sox will play six games this season, with a three-game set at Wrigley Field (August 6-8) and at Guarantee Rate Field (August 27-29). The Chicago teams split the six-game series during the 2020 season, with each team winning a series 2-1 on the road.
