White Sox Place Joe Kelly on 15-Day IL, Recall Banks
The injuries keep adding up for the Chicago White Sox. Thursday, the team placed right-handed relief pitcher, Joe Kelly, on the 15-day injured list with a strained left hamstring injury. Kelly suffered the injury after striking out Franchy Cordero with two outs in the top of the eighth inning of last night’s 3-1 win over Boston.
Kelly exited and Liam Hendriks came on to get the final four outs of the night for the Sox. Kelly started the year on the IL and missed the first month with a right bicep injury.
To fill Kelly’s spot on the roster, the team recalled left-hander Tanner Banks from Triple-A Charlotte. Banks has a 3.00 ERA in 18 innings pitched over 11 games this year already. He was just sent down to Charlotte to make room for Aaron Bummer who returned after a stint on the IL Sunday.
