The Chicago White Sox announced this afternoon that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Matt Foster from Triple-A Charlotte. The club sent Foster down to Charlotte on July 19 after briefly recalling him for a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins.
On the season, Foster owns a 6.04 ERA in 28.1 innings. This move comes in the wake of Jimmy Lambert heading back to Charlotte after his spot start against the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Foster has struggled mightily this season compared to his 2020 campaign. Last season, Foster struck out 31 batters and pitched to a 2.20 ERA in 28.2 innings.
During his time in Charlotte, Foster struck out 11 hitters and compiled a 1.42 ERA in 6.1 innings. Many White Sox fans were expecting Jake Lamb or Luis Robert to return to the club, but that will have to wait for the time being.
