After defeating the Cubs on Sunday afternoon to close out the first half of the season, the White Sox sent outfielder Daniel Palka back to AAA Charlotte after an unimpressive second stint with the big league club.

Palka became a fan-favorite during what was a mostly abysmal 2018 season for the White Sox when he hit 28 home runs. Heralded for his late-inning heroics by mashing home runs in late-inning pinch-hit situations, he figured to provide the 2019 White Sox with a left-handed power bat in the middle of the order with 30+ home run potential.

After getting off to a rough start to 2019, Palka was sent down to AAA Charlotte to figure it out after collecting just a single hit in his first 35 plate appearances. In some regards, that's exactly what he did by posting a .269 batting average with 16 long balls in 60 games and eventually earning himself a call back up to the show when the White Sox designated Yonder Alonso for assignment.

Palka was expected to see some time in the vacated DH role, but he was quickly stapled to the bench while utility infielder Jose Rondon and recent call-up Zack Collins amongst other everyday players rotated in and out of the DH spot. Unfortunately for Daniel, he was unable to make the most of his ten at-bats over his four appearances, going hitless and lowering his season average to a paltry .022 which is, as they say, is "Not great Bob!"

Whether or not Palka makes a return to the South Side remains to be seen. The current outfield is a crowded bunch with Eloy Jimenez, Jon Jay, Charlie Tilson, and Ryan Cordell currently all sharing time. When shortstop Tim Anderson returns from the injured list, Leury Garcia will also figure to get reps back out in centerfield since that's where he has played most of this season. In addition, prized prospect Luis Robert will be knocking on the door as he will start the second half in AAA Charlotte. Regardless of if Palka returns or not, White Sox fans will always remember him destroying baseballs and providing the 2018 team with a much-needed hero.
