Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Jimmy Cordero has a new team. Per Jon Heyman, the 28-year-old right-hander has signed a minor league deal with the New York Yankees.
Cordero, who was picked up by the White Sox in 2019 after he was designated for assignment by both the Blue Jays and the Mariners, recently spent the 2021 season on the shelf recovering from Tommy John surgery.
During the 2020 season, Jimmy Cordero was one of former White Sox manager Ricky Renteria's favorite bullpen options. Cordero appeared in 30 of the 60 shortened season games, throwing 26.2 innings with a 6.08 ERA. He last appeared for the White Sox in the 2020 Postseason series against the Oakland A's.
