Jose Abreu Out For White Sox vs. Twins Series With Ankle Inflammation
Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu will miss the team's upcoming series against the Minnesota Twins due to left ankle inflammation.
Abreu suffered the injury on the final play of Sunday's victory over the Kansas City Royals. Abreu scored from third base on a wild pitch to secure a win for the White Sox, but ankle inflammation was a byproduct of his elusive slide to avoid a tag.
An x-ray of Abreu's left ankle came back negative, hence the inflammation diagnosis. The White Sox expect their first baseman to return for this weekend's series against the New York Yankees.
