The 2022 season has been an uphill battle for the Chicago White Sox. Things won't get any easier down the home stretch as Tim Anderson will be out approximately six weeks after suffering a torn tendon in his hand. How the South Siders will navigate this obstacle is unclear at the moment, but they need someone to step up in Anderson's absence. For at least one night, rookie Lenyn Sosa answered the bell.

After dropping the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, the White Sox needed a spark in the nightcap against the Royals. The AL Central foes battled through two scoreless innings, bringing the bottom of the Sox order to the plate in the top of the third.

With one out in the frame, Sosa stepped into the box looking to turn the lineup over. Instead, he provided a jolt for a floundering offense by blasting his first MLB home run out to left field.

How Will The White Sox Replace Tim Anderson?

With Tim Anderson on the shelf, the Sox will need production from unexpected sources over the next month-plus.

Danny Mendick, who filled in admirably during Anderson's previous absence, is out for the season due to a torn ACL. Romy Gonzalez, a depth infielder who saw MLB time last season, is still getting back into the swing of things at Triple-A Charlotte following a string of injuries.

Those circumstances leave Lenyn Sosa as the White Sox's best reinforcement up the middle of the infield for the time being. Sox manager Tony La Russa seemed to acknowledge that notion, as he left the door open for increased Sosa usage moving forward.

It's a tall task to replace an All-Star shortstop who is a catalyst for the Chicago White Sox, but the immediate impact Lenyn Sosa provided is certainly a positive development.
