When the Chicago White Sox return home on Friday to host the Cubs, there will be some changes to COVID-19 protocols at Guaranteed Rate Field.
In accordance with the City of Chicago's indoor mask mandate that went into effect on August 20, all fans will be required to wear face masks in indoor sections of Guaranteed Rate Field, regardless of vaccination status. In an email to ticket holders for this weekend's games, the White Sox outlined the areas in which masks will be required:
- Indoor concourse areas (suite and club levels)
- Indoor clubs (Guaranteed Rate Club, Huntington Bank Stadium Club)
- Indoor eating areas (Revolution Brewing #SoxSocial Tap Room, Kraft Cave, Patio)
- Indoor retail locations (Chicago Sports Depot)
The email elaborated further on the policy update, stating:
"Masks must cover both nose and mouth. You are welcome to remove your mask when actively eating or drinking, outside, or when seated in your seat. This public health order by the City of Chicago is for the health and safety of everyone in our community."
The White Sox have not played a home contest since the indoor mask mandate went into effect, so Friday, August 27 will mark the first game under the updated protocols.
