Newly acquired outfielder Nomar Mazara and the White Sox have agreed on a deal to avoid arbitration.
As the lone White Sox move during the MLB Winter Meetings, Mazara came over from the Texas Rangers in exchange for outfield prospect Steele Walker. Mazara has hit 20 home runs in three of his four major league seasons, so the White Sox are hoping he can bring some left-handed power to the lineup in 2020. $5.56 million is probably slightly higher than expected. However, Mazara slashed .287/.320/.539 with 11 homers in the second half of 2019, so that stretch may have impacted the number.
