The Chicago White Sox have officially announced the signing of Cuban prospect Oscar Colas. While reports that Colas was expected to sign have existed for nearly a year, the pen has been put to paper and the ink is now dry.
Colas, once touted as the "Cuban Ohtani", joins a long list of notable Cuban-born players in the White Sox system. While he may no longer pitch, thus diminishing the Ohtani profile, his bat has the potential to make a significant impact for the Sox.
White Sox Director of Scouting Marco Paddy doubled down on that assertion, quashing any storylines of the prospect becoming a two-way player.
Paddy also said the plan is for Oscar Colas to be present at Spring Training and play Minor League ball in the United States this upcoming season once his visa process is complete.
