The Chicago White Sox announced a roster move affecting the pitching staff ahead of their series opener against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday.

The club purchased reliever Alex McRae's contract from the alternate site in Schaumburg and reassigned Zack Burdi.

McRae, 28, appeared in a pair of White Sox games last year, throwing just three innings. Prior to his stint on the South Side, he was a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
