The Chicago White Sox (43-29) are traveling to Pittsburgh to take on the Pirates (25-45) in a brief two-game series at PNC Park. The White Sox enter the series after getting swept in a four-game set against the Houston Astros. The Pirates are coming off a rare series win as they took two of three against the Cleveland Indians over the weekend.

The White Sox entered the series against the Astros with the second-best record in Major League Baseball. The starting rotation has been fantastic overall this season, but they met quite a challenge in Houston. The White Sox offense was once again stagnant and struggled to score runs when needed. Major adjustments could be on the way, but as always the White Sox front office remains coy on the matter. The defense relapsed to sloppy form that was almost reminiscent of the beginning of April when the White Sox struggled.

Not to discredit any opponent, but this Pirates team is exactly who the White Sox want to see in a two-game set. The White Sox have an off-day on Monday before facing Pittsburgh on Tuesday, giving them a much-needed day of rest. Expect manager Tony La Russa to shake the lineup up a bit more to put the team in the best situation to win. The Pirates are 20 games under .500 and could be the shot in the arm the White Sox need to gain some confidence back.

The White Sox are clearly an injured team, but they need their leaders to step up. Tim Anderson recorded just one hit in 16 at-bats against Houston after putting together an exceptional series against the Rays. Jose Abreu hasn't been much better, as the reigning MVP recorded only two hits in 14 at-bats. It's time for the South Siders to turn their struggles around against an MLB bottom-feeder and pick up some wins.

White Sox: Jace Fry (Back), Billy Hamilton (Oblique), Michael Kopech (Hamstring), Luis Robert (Hip), Eloy Jiminez (Pectoral), Jimmy Cordero (Elbow), Nick Madrigal (Hamstring), Adam Eaton (Hamstring).

Pirates: Blake Cederlind (Elbow), Cody Bolton (Knee), Travis Swaggerty (Shoulder), Trevor Cahill (Calf), Steven Brault (Lat), Luis Oviedo (Quadriceps), Ji-Hwan Bae (Knee), Jose Soriano (Elbow), Andrew Susac (Undisclosed), and Sam Howard (Knee).
