Per Chuck Garfien of NBC Sports Chicago, Chicago White Sox manager Tony LaRussa has confirmed prized offseason acquisition Liam Hendriks has been out of play for nearly a week as he deals with kidney stones.

Thankfully the ailment doesn't appear to be too serious, but don't tell that to anyone who has ever experienced the pain and discomfort that come with kidney stones. The hope is that Hendriks is able to pass the stone (or stones) on his own with no medical intervention. If that is the case, the closer is expected to be ready to go for Opening Day. La Russa also noted that Hendriks threw a bullpen session today, which is an encouraging sign.

The White Sox kick off their 2021 campaign on April 1st, the first of a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels.
