The Chicago White Sox have exercised their $16 million club option on reliever Craig Kimbrel, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. This move does not come as a surprise, as reports earlier this offseason indicated the team would do so.

Kimbrel, who began his season on the other side of town with the Cubs, came to the White Sox at the trade deadline in exchange for second baseman Nick Madrigal and reliever Codi Heuer.

While the White Sox have decided to exercise their option on Craig Kimbrel, it is largely expected that he will be one of the most-shopped relievers on the trade market this winter.
