The Chicago White Sox announced a pair of injury updates Thursday afternoon. Luis Robert, who has been dealing with blurred vision, will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte tonight. Additionally, the club placed reliever Reynaldo Lopez on the injured list but did not make a corresponding roster move.

Reynaldo Lopez

Lopez last appeared out of the White Sox bullpen in the second game of a doubleheader on July 23 against the Twins. He allowed two hits and one earned run in just a third of an inning, an atypical outing of the hard-throwing righty this season.

Manager Tony La Russa revealed Wednesday that Lopez has been dealing with back soreness since that game. As a result, he was unavailable for the White Sox's series finale against the Rockies, which entailed a bullpen implosion.

Now, Reynaldo Lopez will head to the 15-day injured list (retroactive to July 25) due to a lower back strain.

Luis Robert

Robert has not played in a White Sox game since July 15 at Minnesota. He exited that contest after the first inning due to lightheadedness. When the team returned to action after the All-Star break, Robert's symptoms had not subsided and the team placed him on the injured list.

Now, Robert will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte. The Knights continue a six-game series against the Nashville Sounders tonight.

Luis Robert is eligible to return from the injured list Friday. However, given he is just starting a rehab assignment tonight, it seems he will need some more time before rejoining the Chicago White Sox.
