Hahn: Joe Kelly Won't Be Ready for White Sox Opening Day
Over the weekend, the Chicago White Sox added depth to their bullpen by signing right-hander Joe Kelly to a two-year contract. But the South Siders will have to wait a bit to see him in game action. General manager Rick Hahn said Kelly is recovering from a nerve injury and won't break camp with the team.
Hahn also mentioned that the energetic Kelly will probably be more gung-ho about his status. However, the White Sox don't expect him to be ready for Opening Day.
Kelly owns a 3.83 ERA across 730.2 innings across his 10-year MLB career. Last season with the Dodgers, he posted a 2.86 ERA, 0.977 WHIP, and a 10.2 K/9 rate.

Joe Kelly figures to be a key contributor to the Chicago White Sox bullpen this season. Adding him to a mix that also features Liam Hendriks, Aaron Bummer, and Craig Kimbrel, among others, looks intimidating on paper. However, health is key, and Kelly will need some extra time to work through his nerve injury.
