Per Jon Morosi, the White Sox are linked to Yoshitomo Tsutsugo of the Japan Central League's Yokohama Bay Stars.
The 28-year-old has a career .388 OBP between that league and the Dominican Winter League in addition to 139 homers over his past four seasons. For reference, his stats are right in line with recent Japanese star, Shohei Ohtani. Tsutsugo has a ton of power and can play the outfield. His other positions are first base and third base. My intuition tells me the Sox are planning on using either Eloy Jimenez or Tsutsugo (if they were to acquire him) at designated hitter and left field.
Also, if it's true that both the Tigers and Twins are in on him, why not block them? Why let a division foe beat you out for a coveted free agent? Tsutsugo could fill a gap in the power department for the White Sox. Lord knows that dingers rule baseball, so why not grab more while you can?
