The Chicago White Sox have seen no shortage of power among the minor league ranks so far this year. Gavin Sheets and Jake Burger both slugged their way from Triple-A Charlotte to the big league club within the last month.
Now, another heavy hitter is getting a promotion. The Charlotte Knights announced today that Micker Adolfo will join the Triple-A club as outfielder Luis Gonzalez heads to the injured list.
Adolfo slashed .249/.318/.525 with 33 runs scored, 15 doubles, 15 home runs, and 46 RBIs across 57 games with the Double-A Birmingham Barons prior to the call-up.
In addition to racking up the power numbers, Adolfo has been getting the job done in clutch situations. On July 18, the 24-year-old crushed a no-doubt walk-off home run to elevate the Barons over the Rocket City Trash Pandas.
That occurence was nothing new for Adolfo, who also walked off the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on June 23.
It's been a long road in the minor leagues for Adolfo, who has endured multiple injuries that have limited his playing time over the past few years (79 games played in 2018, 36 in 2019). He now has a chance to improve even further upon his impressive power numbers in Charlotte's hitter-friendly Truist Field.
