As we're only on day four of what looks like a several month hiatus from sports, the White Sox have given us something to think about at least for today. The club announced that Zack Collins, Yermin Mercedes, and Jose Ruiz have all been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte.
Who knows when the season will start, but sending down two of the top candidates for the 26th spot on the roster has raised some questions. Since they'll have a few extra months to prepare, will Michael Kopech and Carlos Rodon actually have a shot to be on the roster when the sports world resumes, and is that extra spot for one of them? Did Nicky Delmonico play his way into the 26th spot? Are we even going to play baseball in 2020?
It will be interesting to see who will be taking that last spot. Whenever baseball resumes, the White Sox will have to decide who is going to fill out the back end of the roster. The moves today indicate that the Sox might not be carrying three catchers. Unfortunately, we have some time before we know who exactly will fill out the White Sox roster so sit back, relax, and Crack Um. Cheers!
