Chicago White Sox' starting pitcher Michael Kopech is heading to the 15-day injured list. Kopech left his start Monday in the first inning after feeling some discomfort behind his left knee that began during his warmup tosses.

After letting the training staff and White Sox' manager Tony La Russa know that he felt good enough to go, Kopech struggled mightily. He was removed from the game after failing to record an out against the four batters he faced.

Tanner Banks gets the call from Triple-A Charlotte to join the MLB club. Banks, who was sent down just a few weeks ago, owns a 3.16 ERA over 42.2 innings with 36 strikeouts in his time with the White Sox.

The encouraging news is that Michael Kopech is expected, at least at this time, to be ready to go after the 15-day IL stint is over. Speaking prior to the first game of a three-game set in Baltimore, Chicago White Sox' manager Tony La Russa said Davis Martin will take Kopech's spot in the rotation while he is on the IL.
