The blows just keep coming for the Chicago White Sox as another young position player succumbs to the injury bug. After exiting Wednesday night's game due to a hamstring ailment, second baseman Nick Madrigal landed on the 60-day injured list with a proximal tear of his right hamstring.

Madrigal is slashing .305/.349/.425 this season with two home runs and 21 RBIs. This injury is a huge detriment to the White Sox, who currently sit atop the AL Central and four games ahead of Cleveland with a record of 37-24 despite significant injuries to young stars Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert.

With Madrigal on the shelf, the White Sox purchased the contract of outfielder Brian Goodwin from AAA Charlotte. Goodwin, who signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox on May 4, is currently slashing .244/.316/.395 with three home runs and 11 RBIs for the Knights.
