The Chicago White Sox made a series of roster moves involving pitchers on Friday afternoon. Most notably, the club placed Vince Velasquez on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 31) due to a left groin strain. He was scheduled to pitch the series opener against the Rays, so the White Sox recalled Davis Martin in his place. The 25-year-old will start tonight's contest in Tampa Bay.
Additionally, the White Sox reinstated Dylan Cease and Kendall Graveman from the restricted list. The pair of righties did not make the trip to Toronto with the team due to their vaccination status. Cease will start Saturday's game against the Rays.
In order to make room for Cease and Graveman, the Chicago White Sox returned Jimmy Lambert and Kyle Crick to Triple-A Charlotte. Lambert pitched a third of an inning Thursday in Toronto and Crick logged three scoreless innings throughout the series against the Blue Jays.
