According to Daniel Parra of SportsVenezuela.com, the White Sox have reportedly signed outfielder Gorkys Hernandez to a minor-league deal. The 32-year-old outfielder has posted a .230/.292/.351 slash line over parts of six MLB seasons. He last played with the Red Sox in 2019, where he slashed just .149/.218/.245 over 57 plate appearances in 20 games. This move is one made with the hopes of fortifying depth in the minor leagues, but Hernandez's -1.0 career bWAR doesn't inspire confidence that he will provide much value to the club.

While White Sox went this route, the Brewers made a more impactful move by signing Brock Holt. The 31-year-old infielder was on the wishlist of many White Sox fans, who will now be hoping the club adds some Major League depth in the next couple weeks. Brian Dozier sits atop that list, but there are other MLB players they could still target. Adding further depth would help prevent a huge dropoff in production when injuries inevitably happen throughout the season.
