Chicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal is heading to Charlotte. Grandal, who was injured July 5, just completed the first leg of his rehab assignment in Double-A Birmingham. The White Sox prized catcher appeared in four games with Birmingham and slashed .365/.384/.365.

In 63 games for the White Sox, Grandal is slashing .188/.388/.436. He's also hit 14 home runs, driven in 38 runs, and walked 60 times. Though his batting average is down from his career averages, Grandal had an amazing month of June. In 23 games in June, Grandal slashed .260/.402/.603 with a 1.005 OPS. Grandal hit eight home runs and drove in 18 during that span too.

Tonight, Grandal will be making his first appearance for the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. It seems that he will be with the club in the coming weeks. The White Sox have been decimated with injuries during the 2021 campaign. Once Grandal returns, it will be the first time all season that the core of the team is at full strength.
