The battle for the AEW TBS Women’s Championship is underway! This tournament will feature the best of the best in AEW’s women’s division.

When the company announced the brackets on Friday, four participants received first-round byes. Those went to the number two through five contenders. Number one contender Tay Conti will miss the tournament, but she has an AEW Women’s Championship match at Full Gear against Britt Baker.

On Saturday's episode of Dynamite, we saw the very first match in the tournament in which Ruby Soho walked away with the win against The Bunny. She will now move on to face Kris Statlander in the second round.

The next installment takes place this Wednesday with a rematch between Serena Deeb and Hikaru Shida. These two recently fought on Dynamite when Shida was trying to get her 50th win. She came up short in that bout, however. Can she find redemption in this match?

Now, onto one of the biggest lingering questions: which of those four with a bye could lose their first match? Looking at the bracket construction, Nyla Rose and Kris Statlander are most at risk. Let's put this down now; one of those two is going to lose their first match. Don't be surprised when it happens. And once it does, this tournament will change in complexion.

Who will be the dark horse of the tournament? When looking over everyone involved in this one, Hikaru Shida wrestler has the best chance to surprise some people. Her first-round matchup is against someone she recently lost to, and she will be looking for revenge in search of her milestone 50th win.

She also has a history going up against Nyla Rose as they have faced off twice in one-on-one matchups. Shida has beaten her both times and will look to continue her climb back to the top of the division with another win. Don't forget, she was also the longest-reigning AEW Women's Champion in history. Even with all of that going for her, she is still a big underdog.

Throughout this tournament, we will see some old stories reemerge and some new rivalries begin. However the chips may fall, this will be the start of something great within AEW. The women's division has grown steadily in such a short amount of time and they deserve another title to fight over. So, who will become the first-ever TBS Women's Champion?

When looking at this bracket, who is your favorite to win? Also, who is the odds-on favorite in all of this? Get ready for what AEW has in store for this tournament, because it will surely be a fun one to watch.
