News and rumors have been swirling for the past week after AEW CEO Tony Khan teased a big announcement for Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite. It was deemed an announcement that would change the landscape of professional wrestling as a whole, and that it did. Tony Khan announced that he is purchasing fellow wrestling company, Ring Of Honor.

With this insane acquisition comes a litany of assets, options, and opportunities. ROH’s video library, which dates back to 2002, intellectual property, and brand assets are now under the ownership of Tony Khan and AEW. Plenty of wrestlers on AEW’s current roster were Ring Of Honor staples in the promotion’s early years. CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, Hangman Page, Britt Baker, and Adam Cole, among others, catapulted their young careers in the throws of Ring Of Honor.

Tony Khan himself stated one of his top goals after acquiring ROH is making the promotions video library accessible to fans as soon as possible. Having access to a trove of classic footage will do wonders for AEW as it continues to grow larger. As the company grows, the opportunity for younger AEW talent to find footing and build themselves into stars arises if Tony Khan decides to bring Ring Of Honor back on a weekly basis.

AEW has been full steam ahead since its inception. Acquiring Ring Of Honor is just the next step into the future of professional wrestling. So much promise is on the horizon for what can come of this purchase. I’m excited to see the direction Tony Khan takes with his version of ROH.
