UFC 264 Main Event Trilogy Fight Predictions

The Trilogy we've all been eager to watch; a matchup of two battle-tested warriors in the stacked UFC lightweight division face off for the third time in their career. McGregor looks to regain footing in the division as his last win came on January 18, 2020, at UFC 246, as he defeated the 38-year-old veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in an early first-round knockout. Poirier is riding high after a big win and payday in his last fight at UFC 257, where he knocked out against Conor McGregor. Who can blame Poirier for running it back to finish off the trilogy and receive another big payday?

McGregor has not looked like the dominant “Notorious” fighter of the past, and that is because UFC fighters have caught up to his mind games and fight strategy. McGregor was once proclaimed the best UFC fighter in the world but has now dwindled and have yet to win an impressive fight in a few years. This will be a tough battle as Poirier is poised, has more energy, and can withstand the power punches thrown by Conor. The Louisianian will look to get the ground game involved and attack Conor's legs with his vicious kicks and leg sweeps. Poirier looks to continue his dominance as one of the best fighters in the sport and hopes for a title contention against Chucky Olives.

McGregor needs a win here to keep his dominant reputation alive. McGregor will try to wear down Poirier with his heavy blows. If McGregor can come out with patience and stamina, he will win this fight tonight. McGregor can really take it to the best of fighters with his back against the wall. He should come back with a big win tonight and win the Trilogy at UFC 264.

I am backing Conor McGregor ML at +110

UFC 264 Co-Main Event Predictions

This co-main event welterweight matchup features the Brazilian mixed martial arts specialist Gilbert “Durinho” Burns vs. the experienced dominant striker in Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson. Burns is coming off a tough knockout loss in a title fight to Usman in February, and Thompson is coming off back-to-back impressive wins over Luque and Neal. He is the fourth-ranked welterweight contender and one win away from potentially getting in the mix to fight for the title against Usman.

Thompson is a much more talented striker with his fierce leg kicks and length. Burns will try to aggressively take down Thompson and use his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to his advantage. Thompson is the more experienced fighter with an advantage in size and striking. He will be able to evade takedowns and stay on his feet.

I am backing Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson ML at -162

Tai Tuivasa vs. Greg Hardy Predictions

A good battle on the card features two heavyweights in Tai Tuivasa at -130 (risk $100 to win $77) and Greg Hardy at +105 (risk $100 to win $105). Both fighters can end a fight quickly with their haymakers and size. Look for the former NFL athlete in Greg Hardy to bounce back from a knockout loss his last time out. He should handle Tuivasa with his punching power and upside in quickness. This should be a fun all-out haymaker brawl with these two heavyweights hoping to climb the rankings.

I am backing Greg Hardy ML at +105

Irene Aldana vs. Yana Kunitskaya Predictions:

This women’s Bantamweight matchup features Irene Aldana at -107 (risk $100 to win $94) and Yana Kunitskaya at -115 (risk $100 to win $87). Aldana looks to bounce back off a tough loss to Holly Holms via unanimous decision. Kunitskaya is coming off back-to-back unanimous decision wins in the division. Both fighters look to make a statement as to who should take on the champion Amanda Nunes. Look for Kunitskaya to constantly take down Aldana to the ground and work the top ground control. This should be a battle in the Bantamweight division.

I am backing Yana Kunitskaya ML at -115
